Gravitational Waves in Modified Theories of Gravity

Abstract: This thesis provides an overview on the current state of many classes of modified theories of gravity and the level of constraint that have been placed on them. Following this, a review of gravitational perturbation theory in the extreme mass ratio (EMRI) regime is provided and then used to provide further constraints on modified theories.
